What is EDI?
Electronic data interchange (EDI) is a document standard which when implemented acts as common interface between two or more computer applications in terms of understanding the document transmitted. It is commonly used by big companies for e-commerce purposes, such as sending orders to warehouses or tracking their order.

Standardized electronic data information exchange (EDI) will increase the efficiency for business partners. Moreover, it significantly reduces manual intervention, paper work and improves cycle time and better supports a high volume transaction environment.

As part of implementing this solution, we use standard EDI documents to automate the various processes in the application. For integration with Oracle Applications we use Oracle Application Implementation Methodology (AIM) and various standard document formats BR, MD50,60,70, 120 etc.

How we leverage Oracle:
We leverage standards like SOAP,FTP and Oracle technologies/framework like Java, Application development framework(ADF), Oracle application framework(OAF), Oracle SOA Suite (SOA), Oracle Business Activity Monitoring (BAM) etc.

This implementation will help companies to automate the Order Import process, which will require no human intervention and fasten the order processing to ultimate delivery to the consumer. The process reports can be checked by the application users using BAM Dashboard and can take corrective actions if there is any error/issues during Order import and processing.
In addition to the use of EDI 850 & 940 for Order import and processing with 3PL, companies uses other EDI (945,856 and 810) to complete pick to ship flow.

In this automation flow company receive the EDI 945 WSA (Warehouse Shipping Advice/Ship Confirmation) from the 3PL, which signifies that the order has been ship confirmed at 3PL. Using Oracle SOA technology which polls for the incoming EDI 945 WSA files and initiate the Oracle application process to release order hold, pick release, pick & ship confirm the order and sending the EDI 856 ASN (Advance Ship Notice) and EDI 810 Invoice to the customer

Benfits:
Reconciliation reports are created for B2B2C automation which can be accessed by the user using BAM dashboard or delivered to their mail boxes. User reviews the status of the orders, and determine where exactly is the order currently in the B2B2C process/cycle.
